Sunday in Bacolod City (11/3/13)

Beginning the journey to the Philippines, I left Oklahoma City at 6:00am on Thursday morning (Oct 31) and connected through Detroit for the flight to Manila with a stop at Nagoya, Japan. The trip was made somewhat more annoying than necessary by a very officious security worker in Nagoya who was extremely invasive in his check of my person. However, this caused only a very short delay before I went on to the final leg, flying to Manila and arriving there about 11pm local time on Friday (Nov 1). The next day, I took a late Saturday afternoon flight from Manila to Bacolod, arriving here just after sunset. Jonathan Carino and Jack Jaco were at the airport to meet me.

The work for the trip started this Lord’s Day with preaching at two different congregations with whom Shem Tapagan labors. One congregation is in the central city area started by the late brother Jun Abbas. Shem now preaches there each Sunday morning. The other is a congregation started by Shem and meeting in a building attached to his family’s house. The was good attendance by the brethren in both congregations, but no non-Christian visitors. We studied on “Defeating the Devil” and “Create in Me a Clean Heart” in each place respectively. Jack had returned home to Victorias City where he preached today and then joined us for the afternoon service.

The Lord willing, we will start the lectures for denominational people tomorrow. This is the second time we will have had such lectures in that same venue and we hope that the Lord will open the hearts of lost souls through His word that they might obey His will and find salvation in Christ. Please keep these efforts in your prayers to God.
