11/11/18
The work started here in
Angeles City on the Lord’s Day as I preached in the congregation with whom
brother Lordy Salunga labors. Jonathan Carino went to preach for another congregation
in the area. Rody went to Pasay in the Manila area where he started a new congregation
several years ago and still shares preaching time with several of his sons. So
all of us went our separate ways for that day.
Lordy asked me to take the
time in both the Bible study as well as the assembly to teach two lessons. In
the first lesson we studied “Foundation of Faith,” a very fundamental lesson on
the basic points necessary for a faith that is acceptable to God. In the second
lesson, we discussed “Developing a Genuine Faith.” The second study was a
contrast between the example of Joash in being godly as long as Jehoida was
alive, but turning to evil after his death, and Timothy who continued a life of
faith when separated from those who influence him for good. After our services,
Lordy went on to preach at Tarlac while I returned to the hotel to work on the
classes for the week. I had much to do and tried to go to sleep, but ended up
working rather late.
On Monday, we were able to
start the classes on 1st and 2nd Timothy through Titus. As
some were traveling to attend the studies, we could not start until about 10am
this morning. So, we were unable to cover the introductory material and all of
1st Timothy 1 before the lunch break. After lunch, we began at 1
Timothy 1:18 and concluded in the midst of examining the qualification of
bishops or elder from 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. We plan to start
tomorrow with the shepherds or elders’ qualifications regarding the
preparations to teach. We ended both the morning and afternoon sessions with
Lordy, Jonathan and Rody discussing in the dialect the points made in the
material covered in the class.
